Why Any Time Is the Perfect Time

One of the most common questions I get as a newborn photographer is: “When should we schedule our newborn photos?”

The truth is — and what I love most about my work — is that any time in those early months is the perfect time to document your story.

Many families choose to book their newborn photography session during the second trimester of pregnancy. Around this time, you’re starting to feel a bit more like yourself, and it’s the perfect window to plan ahead. When you reserve your session early, I hold time on my calendar around your due date so we can adjust once your baby arrives. There’s no pressure for a specific day or week — just the peace of knowing your session is secure and your story will be told beautifully.

It’s Never Too Late for Newborn Photos

While those first couple of weeks bring tender, sleepy moments, there’s something incredibly special about photographing your baby a little later — even at one or two months old. The newborn session featured here took place when baby was two months old, and it was full of connection, laughter, and warmth.

By this stage, mom was feeling more rested and confident, baby’s personality had started to shine, and older siblings had time to settle into their new role. There were little smiles, bright eyes, and moments of genuine joy that told the story of this family’s beautiful beginning.

Whether your baby is brand new or already starting to coo and grin, there’s beauty in every stage. That’s what I love most about being a storytelling newborn photographer in Winston-Salem — my focus isn’t on perfect poses, but on honest, emotional connection.

At-Home Newborn Photography in Winston-Salem, NC

My at-home newborn sessions are relaxed, natural, and deeply personal. You don’t have to leave your home, pack a diaper bag, or worry about how everything looks. Your home — with its soft light, cozy corners, and lived-in love — is the perfect backdrop for your story.

As a Winston-Salem newborn photographer, I focus on the small details that make your family unique: the way your baby’s hand wraps around yours, the way you sway in rhythm while comforting them, the laughter that fills the room as you soak in these fleeting days. These are the real moments that tell your family’s story.
