At-Home Lifestyle Photography
Hi,
I'm Lauren!
Family Photographer
I am so excited to get to work with you! Thank YOU for choosing me to capture the beauty of your motherhood in a true and authentic way.
This guide will serve as a way to prepare you for your session during the annual EMP Motherhood Event. I want to celebrate you and show you how beautiful your love is through the eyes of your children.
The Experience
Lifestyle photography during these motherhood sessions is all about capturing the genuine, heartfelt connection between you and your children. While I’ll provide a few simple prompts to get you moving, playing, or snuggling together, much of the magic happens naturally in those in-between moments—like the way your child looks up at you, the laughter that spills out during tickles, or the quiet comfort of a hug. My goal is to create a relaxed environment where you can simply enjoy being together, allowing me to document the beauty of your relationship in a way that feels authentic and timeless.
Location
101 S. Marshall Street
Winston-Salem, NC 27012
The studio is a cozy, intimate space where the afternoon light pours in through beautiful windows, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. With clean white walls as the backdrop, the focus will remain entirely on the natural connections between you and your children. To keep things simple and timeless, the room will be cleared of distractions, leaving us with an open space to capture those magical, heartfelt moments that highlight the love and bond you share.
what to wear
When deciding what to wear for these minimalistic motherhood sessions, there are two beautiful directions you can take: casual and cozy or dressed up and elegant.
If you choose the casual route, think jeans and a simple white button-up shirt for a timeless, relaxed look. Matching loungewear sets or cozy outfits for your little ones can also create a coordinated, comfortable vibe that still feels polished.
On the other hand, dressing up can add a touch of sophistication—imagine mom in a flowy dress paired with little ones in sweet matching sets or dresses.
As you decide, think about how you’ll want to use these photos later—whether it’s hanging them on your walls, showcasing them in an album, or placing prints in tabletop frames. Most importantly, stay true to who you are as a family. If you’re comfortable and confident, it will shine through in the photos, making them even more meaningful and authentic.
Some More Clothing Tips:
- Soft, Neutral Tones: Pastels, greys, beiges, and whites (but not all white) always photograph beautifully and create a timeless, airy feel.
- Earthy Tones: Burgundy, greens, mustards, blues, and burnt oranges add warmth and vibrancy to your photos while looking great together.
- Mix Colors and Textures: Combine varied tones for each person and incorporate textures like denim, cotton, wool, or linen. This variation adds depth and visual interest to your images.
- Layering: Layers such as scarves, shirts, cardigans, jackets, or hats can bring versatility and a polished look to your photos while adding an extra touch of style (and warmth, if needed).
THESE THOUGHTFUL CHOICES WILL ELEVATE YOUR IMAGES WHILE KEEPING THEM NATURAL AND TRUE TO YOUR FAMILY’S PERSONALITY!
Overall Tips
- Lose the Shoes: Bare feet create a relaxed, natural vibe and make the photos feel warm and homey.
- Set the Tone: Your kids will mirror your emotions, so stay happy, energetic, and upbeat to help them feel comfortable and at ease.
- Forget the Camera: Focus on the ones you love. The most beautiful moments come from genuine interactions, so let me capture those authentic connections unless I ask for a direct glance.
