Ever wondered what it's really like to invite me into your Winston-Salem home for a family photo session? Well, let me paint you a picture.

First of all, it's truly an honor for me to witness you and your loved ones in your natural habitat. Upon arrival, I'll kindly ask for a tour of your home. This isn't just to admire your home (though I'll definitely do that too!), but it's to really see how the fills all of your spaces. It helps me visualize the perfect spots to capture those cozy family moments.

Even before I step foot in your door, you are welcome to share photos of your home with me. It helps me prepare and ensures I have a good grasp of the lighting situation ahead of time.

Once we're all acquainted with your space, we'll start our journey. I'll carefully select the first location and guide you and your family into lovely poses that reflect your unique bond. But don't worry, it's not all stiff posing. I love to kick things off with gentle prompts (like lifting baby in the air or passing a tickle from one family member to another) then let the magic of your interactions unfold naturally.

We'll linger in each space until I've captured an assortment of images that I know you will love (or until the little ones' attention spans decide otherwise!). Then, it's onto the next backdrop.

If you've read this blog post, you'll know I'm all about following the lead of the little ones. Their spontaneity often leads to some of the most heartwarming shots. So, we'll continue this sequence throughout our session, with breaks peppered in to refuel or simply catch a breather.

And here's a little secret: I'll probably keep snapping during those breaks. After all, people tend to relax and show their true selves when they think the camera isn't watching.

As our time together draws to a close, I'll reassure you that we've captured plenty of magic, despite any hiccups or chaos along the way. Because isn't that just life in its beautiful, imperfect glory?

So, take a scroll through the photos below to get a taste of the ebb and flow of an in-home session with me. Trust me, it's a journey worth cherishing.

We began in this little space where the light was pouring through the door. This lighting gave me so much inspiration for this sweet, tender moment between Mama and her boys and the playful moments with dad lifting his son into the air.

We moved into the living room for some cozy moments at the couch where this family spends a lot of their time during the days.

Next, this bedroom had some awesome windows. The boys were able to play with some toys and I snuck outside to get some shots looking in. I love the intimate feel of these!

After that, we moved downstairs and let the boys play some more while still creating beautiful images that capture the season of life they are in right now.

To finish our time together, we headed to the back yard where the boys love to spend time with mommy and daddy.
